A client of mine that I had done a fireplace makeover for last year (see my blog post Brick Fireplace Makeover) contacted me about painting her kitchen cabinets.  They were gorgeous, cherry cabinets and not that old, but the homeowner was regretting her choice of doing the entire kitchen in cherry; creamy white cabinets were what she wish she had chosen.
After coming to a decision to paint the cabinets, she chose Linen White, a Benjamin Moore paint color.  I used General Finishes Milk Paint because it is a very durable paint, great for kitchen cabinets.  I had my supplier at the Chicago Institute of Fine Finishes custom tint the milk paint to the linen white. We first took down all the doors and drawer fronts, and brought them back to my workspace at my house to be sprayed. Then we covered the entire kitchen with plastic and paper and enclosed it in plastic zip walls to contain the dust.  We then  sanded, cleaned and rinsed the base cabinets.Next came the spraying — two coats of primer, two coats of paint and three coats of General Finishes High Performance Satin Polyurethane.  The before and after photos show such a dramatic transformation.  The kitchen is now light, bright and just what the homeowner wanted.
