I was commissioned by interior designer, Denyne Sanville, denynedesigns.com, to do a faux driftwood finish on her client’s night stands.  As you can see from the “before” picture, these night stands were wood, the right base for this particular finish.  I lightly sanded them down and put a darker stain.  Since chalk paint sands very easily, it was the perfect medium to use for this finish which required a lot of sanding and some layering of the paints to get it just right.  I used cream  and gray chalk paints and added clear and dark waxes for the top coat which really brought out the colors in the finish.  The client was very happy with the outcome and the night stands will look great in her new beach-inspired bedroom.
