I thought the architectural details on this accent table were beautiful and wanted to highlight them as much as I could. As you can see, the veneer on the drawer needed to be repaired so I filled that with wood filler. After deciding on a classic look, I chose a warm beige color, Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Country Grey, for the body and an Annie Sloan Old White Chalk Paint as an accent to highlight the fluted edges around the table top. After it was done, I couldn’t help thinking something was missing. An embossed stencil on top was just what it needed. I chose this stencil because I loved the intricate pattern and knew it would be just right for this piece. To create the embossed look, I used a smooth plaster I had left over from another job. Since it wasn’t exactly the right color, I repainted the top with the same base color and used a mixture of dark and clear wax to highlight the stencil pattern. Dark wax on the fluted legs and around the base of the table brought out the details.
