The homeowner had this piece custom made many years ago by a two carpenters who hand-carved the gorgeous details that you see on the piece. The armoire went perfectly with the style of her previous home, but didn’t work in the new home she moved into a few months ago. Rather than keep it hidden in her bedroom or not use it at all, her designer, Sue Feinberg, of A Better Way Redesign, convinced her to put it in her kitchen where it would be used and fill a space that was too empty. After seeing a sample I did in Anne Sloan Pure White chalk paint highlighted with a wax mixture of Duck Egg Blue chalk paint and clear wax, she knew this was the perfect choice for the armoire. The closeup “After” pictures show the hand-carved details that were distressed so that they would stand out. The wax mixture was randomly applied throughout the piece to give it a little color as you can see more clearly in the side view picture. It now fits with the new home’s style and the homeowner is very happy!
