The basement of the United Church of Christ in Burlington was in desperate need of a renovation.  It was last updated in the 60’s and was being used mostly for storage.  New ceiling tiles, paint, updated bathrooms and new tile floors in the bathrooms, classroom and nursery were just some of the work that was done mostly by volunteers who also happen to be members of the church.  I was asked to do an accent wall in the new nursery space and chose this stenciled mural with a forest theme I thought the kids would love.  The wall stencil kit is from The Mad Stencilist, themadstencilist. called “Forest Friends”.   Because the space is in the basement, I wanted to choose bright, happy colors.  Benjamin Moore has a great selection, so it was easy to pick out the perfect colors for the space, a saturated turquoise blue for the walls and spring green for the “grass”.  The colors make the space bright and cheery.  Here’s how it turned out.
