The homeowner wanted an antiqued, distressed look for this original oak vanity that was dated worn in places. The original tile counter top had been replaced with a warm granite that the homeowner loved. We chose Dove White for the oak cabinet base, and it coordinates well with counter top. The floor tiles coordinated with the new granite counter tops. The rest of the bathroom had been newly painted, and new faucets and light fixtures in aged, rubbed bronze replaced the dated brass fixtures. After priming and painting a base coat in Dove White (Benjamin Moore), a warm taupe colored glaze was applied. The details on the doors and drawer fronts were highlighted with the glaze. A strie technique gave the vanity the aged, antiqued loo the homeowner wanted. Two coats of satin varnish protected the glazed finish. The updated cabinet now compliments the new tiled floor and granite counter top perfectly.
